Swapfiets strive to keep Paris moving

Dutch bike subscription brand Swapfiets is offering free trials to help Parisians cope with this week’s public transport strike. 

Major disruption is expected on March 25 in the French capital with bus, metro, tram and rail services all likely to be impacted. 

In a bid to keep the city moving, Swapfiets has announced a special offer – three-day test rides of their popular Original and Deluxe 7 models.

To take advantage of the limited time deal, customers are invited to sign up on the website, with bike pick-ups starting from Wednesday, March 23.

Swapfiets’ concept of hassle-free bike subscriptions has been gaining momentum in Paris, offering a great alternative to buying your own bicycle or using a shared micromobility vehicle.

With a Swapfiets subscription, members get their own bike for a fixed monthly price with maintenance, repairs and insurance all included.

The number of cyclists in Paris has grown by around 70 percent in the past two years thanks largely to investment in cycling infrastructure. It is estimated that up to 15 percent of all trips in the French capital are now made by bicycle. 

Cycling is the most sustainable way to get from A to B and Swapfiets makes it even greener by applying a model of circular economy to its products. For example, a Deluxe bike is already 82 percent circular with the brand committed to creating 100 percent circular bikes by 2025.
